Frühlingskinder mein Herz umschwärmen, Flüstern hinein mit schmeichelnden Worten, Rufen hinein mit trunkenem Lärmen, Rütteln an längst verschlossenen Pforten. Frühlingskinder, mein Herz umringend, Was doch sucht ihr darin so dringend? Hab' ich's verrathen euch jüngst im Traum, Schlummernd unter dem Blüthenbaum? Brachten euch Morgenwinde die Sage, Daß ich im Herzen eingeschlossen Euren lieblichen Spielgenossen, Heimlich und selig -- ihr Bildnis trage?

Figli di primavera, che circondate il mio cuore, ma che cercate là dentro con tanta furia? Vi ho forse da poco traditi in sogno, dormendo sotto l'albero fiorito?
