"Mutter, ach Mutter! es hungert mich,
Gib mir Brot, sonst sterbe ich."
  "Warte nur, mein liebes Kind,
  Morgen wollen wir säen geschwind."

Und als das Korn gesäet war,
Rief das Kind noch immerdar:
"Mutter, ach Mutter! es hungert mich,
Gib mir Brot, sonst sterbe ich."
  "Warte nur, mein liebes Kind,
  Morgen wollen wir ernten geschwind."

Und als das Korn geerntet war,
Rief das Kind noch immerdar:
"Mutter, ach Mutter! es hungert mich,
Gib mir Brot, sonst sterbe ich."
  "Warte nur, mein liebes Kind,
  Morgen wollen wir dreschen geschwind."

Und als das Korn gedroschen war,
Rief das Kind noch immerdar:
"Mutter, ach Mutter! es hungert mich,
Gib mir Brot, sonst sterbe ich."
  "Warte nur, mein liebes Kind,
  Morgen wollen wir mahlen geschwind."

Und als das Korn gemahlen war,

Und als das Brot gebacken war,

Дай мне хлеб, чтоб не умер я!
- Подожди, подожди, мое милое дитя!
Завтра мы пожнем зерно для тебя!

















И когда было пожато зерно,
Дитя продолжало звать все равно:
- Матерь, ах, матерь, голоден я.
Дай мне хлеб, или умру  я!
- Подожди, подожди, мое милое дитя!
Завтра мы смолотим зерно для тебя.

И когда смолочено было зерно,
дитя продолжало рыдать все равно:
- Матерь, ах, матерь, голоден я.
дай мне хлеб, чтоб не умер я!
- Подожди, подожди, мое милое дитя!
Завтра мы хлеб испечем для тебя.

Но когда оказался хлеб на столе,
ребенок уже был предан земле.
