Smutno niańki ci śpiewały,
A ja już kochałem,
A na lewy palec mały
Srebrny pierścień dałem.

Pobrali dziewczęta drudzy, 
Ja wiernie kochałem,
Przyszedł młody chłopiec cudzy,
Choć ja pierścień dałem.

Muzykantów zaproszono,
Na godach śpiewałem;
Innego zostałaś żoną,
Ja wiernie kochałem.

 ... 

Dziś dziewczęta mnie wyśmiały,
ja wiernie czekałem,
Próżnom wierny był i stały,
Próżno pierścień dałem!

Et je t'aimais déjà,
À ton petit doigt gauche,
Je plaçais un anneau d'argent.

D'autres garçons se sont mariés avec des filles,
Je t'aimais fidèlement.
Il est arrivé un jeune homme étranger,
Bien que je t'ai donné l'anneau.

Des musiciens furent invités,
Je chantai pendant la fête !
Tu étais devenue la femme d'un autre,
Je t'aimais toujours.

Aujourd'hui les filles se sont moquées de moi,
J"ai pleuré amèrement :
En vain j'ai été fidèle et constant,
