Die Königskinder
 (Sung text for setting by H. Zumpe)
 See base text
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT FRE
Es waren zwei Königskinder,
Die hatten einander so lieb,
Sie konnten beisammen nicht kommen,
Das Wasser war viel zu tief.

Lieb Herze, kannst du nicht schwimmen?
Lieb Herze so schwimme zu mir;
Zwei Kerzen will ich anzünden,
Und die sollen leuchten dir.

Da saß eine falsche Nonne,
Die thät, als wenn sie schlief,
Die thät die Kerzen auslöschen,
Der Jüngling ertrank so tief.

 ...

Da hört man Glocken läuten,
Da hört man Jammer und Noth;
Da liegen zwei Königskinder,
Die sind all beide todt.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1-3,5 of the original text.

Composition:

    Set to music by Hermann Zumpe (1850 - 1903), "Die Königskinder", stanzas 1-3,5 [ voice and piano ], from Fünf Lieder, no. 4

Els fills de rei
 (Sung text translation for setting by H. Zumpe)
 See original
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch)
Hi havia una vegada dos fills de rei
que s’estimaven molt,
però no podien estar junts,
l’aigua era massa profunda.

Cor estimat, no saps nedar?
Cor estimat, neda doncs cap a mi;
jo posaré tres espelmes
que et faran llum.

Allà hi havia una falsa monja
que feia com si estigués dormint,
ella apagà les espelmes
i el jovencell s’ofegà en la fondària.

 ...

Aleshores se sentiren tocar les campanes,
se sentiren plors i laments;
allà jauen dos fills de rei,
tots dos són morts.

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1-3,5 of the original text.
