In dem lüfte-süssen Mayen
Wann der Wald gekleidet staht,
So sieht man sich schöne zweien
Alles das, was Liebe hat,
Und ist mitsammen froh,
Das ist recht, die Zeit will so.
Wo sich Liebe zu Liebe zweiet,
Liebe hohen Muth verleihet,
In der beider Herze mayet
Es mit Freuden alle Zeit,
Trauerns will die Liebe nicht,
Wo man Lieb bei Liebe sicht.
Wo zwei Lieb einander meinen
Herz-innig und ohne Wank,
Und sich beide so vereinen,
Daß ihr Lieb ist ohne Krank,
Die hat Gott zusammen geben
Auf ein wunnigliches Leben.

In the breeze-sweet Maytime,
When the woods stand garbed,
Then one sees everything that has something dear
Beautifully pair up,
And be happy with each other;
That is right, the time wants it thus.
Where love pairs up with love,
Love bestows great courage,
In the two hearts it becomes May
Joyfully at all times;
Love does not want mourning
Where one sees love beside love.
Where two deem to love each other
Fervently and steadfastly ,
And unite themselves so that
Their love is without affront,
Those God has joined
For a blissful life.
