Allnächtlich im Traume seh' ich dich
Und sehe dich freundlich grüßen,
Und laut aufweinend stürz' ich mich
Zu deinen süßen Füßen.

Du siehst mich an wehmütiglich
Und schüttelst das blonde Köpfchen;
Aus deinen Augen schleichen sich  
Die Perlentränentröpfchen.

Du sagest mir heimlich ein leises Wort
Und gibst mir den Strauß von Zypressen.
Ich wache auf, und der Strauß ist fort,
Und das Wort hab' ich vergessen.

 En voetje voor voetje... `k schrik m'n hoedje! 
 Want hier is plotseling die gier
 En bijt me toe: `Wat moet je!' 

 Ik schiet hem morsdood: `Weesgegroetje!' 
 Nu kom ik bij jou, mijn god, wat bloed je
 Ik ruk de ketting los en pluk
 De tranen van je snoetje.

 Je geeft me, als dank, je Toverring
 Daar zing ik het lied, op jouw lijf geschreven
 Dan is het dag, waar de ring is... Ach... 
 En 't lied ben ik vergeten.
