Где сладкий шёпот
Густых лесов,
Потоков ропот,
Цветы лугов?
Деревья голы;
Ковёр зимы
Покрыл холмы,
Луга и долы.
Под ледяной
Своей корой
Ручей немеет;
Все цепенеет,
Лишь ветер злой,
Бушуя, воет
И небо кроет
Седою мглой.

Where are the sweet whisper
of dense forests,
the murmur of streams,
the flowers of meadows?
The trees are naked:
the carpet of winter
has covered the hills,
meadows, and valleys.
Under its
icy crust
the hand grows numb,
everything freezes.
Only the wicked wind
howls as it roars,
and the sky covers
with a gray haze.
