Ich hab ein Bächlein funden
Vom Städtchen ziemlich weit,
Da bin ich manche Stunden
In stiller Einsamkeit.
Ich thät mir gleich erkiesen
Ein Plätzchen kühles Moos;
Da sitz' ich, und da fließen
Mir Thränen in den Schooß.

Für dich, für dich nur wallet
Mein jugendliches Blut;
Doch, leise nur erschallet
Dein Nam' an dieser Flut.
Ich fürchte, daß mich täusche
Ein Lauscher aus der Stadt;
Es schreckt mich das Geräusche
Von jedem Pappelblatt.

 ...

Von meinem Blumenhügel
Sah ich dir lange nach;
Ich wünschte mir die Flügel
Der Täubchen auf dem Dach;
Nun glaub' ich zu vergehen
Mit jedem Augenblick.
Willst du dein Liebchen sehen,
So komme bald zurück!

Daphne bij de beek
 (Sung text translation for setting by J. Kraus)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Een beekje heb 'k gevonden,
Een flink eind van de stad.
Daar lik ik stil mijn wonden,
Daar eindigt steeds mijn pad.
'k Heb daad'lijk mij verkozen
Een plekje met koel mos;
Daar zit ik en daar komen
Dan al mijn tranen los.

Alleen voor jou wil 't bruisen,
Mijn jong, onstuimig bloed;
Maar toch, je naam moet 'k fluist'ren,
Slechts zacht en zonder gloed.
Ik vrees dat 'k word verraden
Door 'n gluurder uit de stad;
Ik schrik van 't lichte zwaat'len
Van ieder peppelblad.

 ...

Vanaf mijn bloemenheuvel
Volgde mijn blik je strak;
Ik wenste mij de vleugels
Van de duifjes op het dak;
Nu denk ik te gaan sterven;
De dood, hij komt soms vlug.
Wil jij je liefje weerzien,
Kom dan heel gauw terug!
