Weißer Jasmin
(Sung text for setting by R. Strauss)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Bleiche Blüte, Blüte der Liebe,
Leuchte über dem Laubendach,
Ruf' in klopfenden Mädchenherzen,
Blüte der Liebe, die Sehnsucht wach!
Deiner Kelche verströmender Atem
Zittert, verzittert so schwer und stark,
Schwül von deinen duftenden Kronen
Weht der Nachtwind über den Park.

In der Laube lauschen zwei Augen.
Zögert und zagt ein Mädchenmund,
Sorge dich nicht und laß dich küssen,
Sieh, nur Sträucher raunen im Rund.

Und es ruft dir im pochenden Herzen
Weißer Jasmin die Seele wach -
Weiße Blüte, Blüte der Liebe
Leuchte über dem Laubendach.

Witte jasmijn
(Sung text translation for setting by R. Strauss)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Bleke bloesem, bloesem van liefde,
Licht hel boven het lover op,
Roep in kloppende meisjesharten,
Bloesem van liefde, ‘t verlangen op!
O, jouw adem, die stroomt uit de kelkjes,
Vlindert, ja siddert zo sterk en zwaar;
Zwoel waait van je geurende kronen
Hoog de nachtwind over aldaar.

In het lover kijken twee ogen,
Aarzelt bevreesd een meisjesmond.
Wees maar niet bang en laat je kussen,
Zie, slechts struiken fluist’ren hier rond.
En nu wekt daar in ‘t kloppende hartje
Witte jasmijn verlangen
 op –
 boven het lover op.

Translations of title(s):
"Weisser Jasmin" = "Witte jasmijn"
"Weißer Jasmin" = "Witte jasmijn"
