Pflücken von jedem Zweig,
Ich möchte die grünen Gräser all'
Weinen so bleich, so bleich.

 Vorrei andare per il mondo,
 in giro per il vasto mondo;
 se solo non fosse tutto verde, così verde,
 là fuori per boschi e campi!

 Vorrei strappare tutte le foglie verdi
 da ogni ramo,
 vorrei far scolorire col pianto
 tutta l'erba verde.

 Vorrei giacere davanti alla sua porta,
 tra tempesta, pioggia e neve,
 e cantare sommesso giorno e notte
 una sola parola: addio!

 Ascolta, quando nel bosco risuona il corno
 stride la sua finestra
 e anche se non si affaccia per me,
