Auf dem See
 (Sung text for setting by H. Nägeli)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA NOR SPA
Und frische Nahrung, neues Blut
Saug' ich aus freier Welt;
Wie ist Natur so hold und gut,
Die mich am Busen hält!
Die Welle wieget unsern Kahn
Im Rudertakt hinauf,
Und Berge, wolkig himmelan,
Begegnen unserm Lauf.

Aug', mein Aug', was sinkst du nieder?
Goldne Träume, kehrt ihr wieder?
Weg, du Traum! so Gold du bist;
Hier auch Lieb' und Leben ist.

Auf der Welle blinken
Tausend schwebende Sterne,
Weiche Nebel trinken
Rings die thürmende Ferne;
Morgenwind umflügelt
Die beschattete Bucht,
Und im See bespiegelt
Sich die reifende Frucht.

Sur le lac
 (Sung text translation for setting by H. Nägeli)
 See original
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Des fraîches nourritures, du nouveau sang
De ce monde libre je m'abreuve :
Comme est aimable et bonne la nature
Qui me tient en son sein !
La vague berce notre barque
Au rythme des avirons,
Et les montagnes, aux ciels ennuagés
Croisent notre route.

Yeux, mes yeux, pourquoi vous baisser ?
Rêves d'or, revenez‑vous ?
Vas‑t'en, rêve ! tout doré que tu sois :
Ici c'est l'amour et la vie.

Sur les vagues scintillent
Mille étoiles flottantes,
Alentour, une molle brume consomme
Les amoncellements lointains.
Le vent du matin bat des ailes
Autour de la baie ombragée,
Et dans le lac se reflète
Le fruit mûrissant.
