Es wußt' weder Vater noch Mutter.

Sie sind gewandert hin und her,
Sie haben gehabt weder Glück noch Stern,
Sie sind verdorben, gestorben.

discese sui delicati fiorellini azzurri:
ed essi appassirono e seccarono.
 
Un giovane si era innamorato di una fanciulla;
fuggirono in segreto dalle loro case,
all'insaputa dei loro genitori.
 
Andarono errando di qua e di là,
non hanno avuto fortuna, né una buona stella,
sono andati in rovina e sono morti.
