Quand viendra la saison nouvelle,
Quand auront disparu les froids,
Tous les deux, nous irons, ma belle,
Pour cueillir le muguet au bois;
Sous nos pieds égrenant les perles
Que l'on voit, au matin trembler,
Nous irons écouter les merles 
     Siffler.

Le printemps est venu, ma belle;
C'est le mois des amants béni;
Et l'oiseau, satinant son aile,
Dit des vers au rebord du nid.
Oh ! viens donc sur le banc de mousse
Pour parler de nos beaux amours,
Et dis-moi de ta voix si douce: 
    «Toujours !»

Loin, bien loin égarant nos courses,
Faisons fuir le lapin caché,
Et le daim au miroir des sources
Admirant son grand bois penché ;
Puis chez nous tout joyeux, tout aises,
En paniers, enlaçant nos doigts,
Revenons rapportant des fraises
    Des bois.

Wenn sich der Lenz im Jahr einfindet,
und wenn gewichen ist der Frost,
dann gehn wir beide, meine Liebe,
Maiglöckchen pflücken, in den Wald.
Tau perlt und blitzt im Morgenlichte,
fällt unter unsern Schritten ab,
wir hören froh die Amseln singen
ihr Lied.

Uns ist der Frühling nun gekommen,
aller Liebenden holde Zeit;
der Vogel, seidigen Gefieders,
vom hohen Nest singt seine Weis’.
Wir finden dort im weichen Moose
unserer Liebe Seligkeit -
ach, sag mir sanft, dass du für immer
bist mein.

Weit, sehr weit gehn wir ab vom Pfade,
schrecken den Hasen auf im Versteck,
und den Hirsch, der im Spiegel der Quelle
stolz sein mächtig Geweih erblickt;
dann kehr’n wir heim, beglückt und heiter,
Hand in Hand und die Körbe voll
mit roten und sü.en Beeren
vom Wald.
