Die kleine Calabreserin
(Sung text for setting by K. Reissiger)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Our translations:  ENG
Abend's da sah ich das Kalabresinnchen:
Stille, gar stille vom Bächelchen kam sie,
         Kalabresinnchen,
         niedlich Kindchen!
         Kalabresinnchen,
         Kalabresinnchen, niedlich Kindchen!

Und zu ihr sagt' ich: ach, Kalabresinnchen!
Reicht mir ein Schlückchen, ein Schlückchen vom Wasser?
         Kalabresinnchen,
         niedlich Kindchen!
         Kalabresinnchen,
         Kalabresinnchen, niedlich Kindchen!

Und sie erwiederte artig und fein mir:
Nicht nur das Wasser -- mich selber, mich selber!
         Kalabresinnchen,
         niedlich Kindchen!
         Kalabresinnchen,
         Kalabresinnchen, niedlich Kindchen!

The little Calabrian girl
(Sung text translation for setting by K. Reissiger)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I saw the little Calabrian in the evening:
Quietly, very quietly she came from the brooklet,
         Little Calabrian,
         Adorable child!
         Little Calabrian,
         Little Calabrian, adorable child!

And I said to her: ah, little Calabrian!
Would you pass to me a little sip, a little sip of water?
         Little Calabrian,
         Adorable child!
         Little Calabrian,
         Little Calabrian, adorable child!

And, politely and prettily, she replied to me:
Not only would I give you the water – but myself, myself!
         Little Calabrian,
         Adorable child!
         Little Calabrian,
         Little Calabrian, adorable child!

Subtitle: "(Calabria)"
