Ah, je voudrais avoir un bonnet De brocard avec plumes, Et je voudrais être habillée comme une dame Pour aller à la messe ! Et je voudrais aller en voiture Ou chevaucher un coursier, un faucon sur le bras ; Ah je voudrais ne pas être juste Cendrillon, Mais posséder un château de pierre ! Je suis assise et ferme les yeux, Les mains sous les genoux ; Et je me languis là de mes poupées, Que javais eues petite, taillées dans un arbre ; Je les habillais selon ma fantaisie Et les parais de zibeline et de fourrures ; Ah, je voudrais être encore enfant avec mes poupées, Ou que les poupées soient femmes et hommes ! Je prendrais alors le meilleur bonnet, De brocard avec plumes, Et me parerais comme une dame Pour aller à la messe. J'irais à la cour en voiture, Un chevalier me suivrait, un faucon sur le bras.
