O Felsen, lieber Felsen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Czech (Čeština)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
O Felsen, lieber Felsen,
Was stürztest du nicht ein,
Als ich mich trennen mußte
Von dem Geliebten mein?

Laß dämmern, Gott, laß dämmern,
Daß bald der Abend wink'
Und daß auch bald mein Leben
In Dämmerung versink'!

O Nachtigall, du traute,
O sing' im grünen Hain,
Erleichtere das Herz mir
Und meines Herzens Pein!

Mein Herz, das liegt erstarret
Zu Stein in meiner Brust,
Es findet hier auf Erden
An nichts, an nichts mehr Lust.

Ich frei' wohl einen Andern
Und lieb' ich ihn auch nicht;
Ich tue, was mein Vater
Und meine Mutter spricht.

Ich tue nach des Vaters
Und nach der Mutter Wort,
Doch heiße Tränen weinet
Mein Herz in einem fort.

O rotsen, lieve rotsen
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
O rotsen, lieve rotsen,
Hoe kon je blijven staan,
Toen ik van mijn geliefde,
Mijn hartsvriend, weg moest gaan?

Maak ’t donker, God, maak ‘t donker,
Dat gauw de avond daalt,
En dat ook gauw mijn leven
In duisternis vervalt.

O nachtegaal, jij maatje,
O, zing in ’t bos maar fijn,
Verlicht, als ’t kan, mijn hart wat
En in mijn hart de pijn!

Mijn hart, dat is verstard tot
Een steen hier binnenin;
Het vindt op deze aarde
In niets, in niets nog zin.

Ik vrij wel met een ander,
Al hou ‘k van hem niet echt;
Ik doe wel wat mijn vader
En wat mijn moeder zegt.

Ik handel naar mijn vaders
En naar mijn moeders wens,
Maar hete tranen schreien
Blijf ik slechts om één mens.
