Tot U, o Heer en Vader, kom ik in vreugd’ en lijden; Gij kunt mijn hart verblijden, Gij steunt mij bij mijn smart! Ach, als ik U niet kende, ontviel mij aard’ en hemel; ‘k vond overal ellende, door ’t noodlot overmand. Gij hebt aan al mijn wegen een zinvol doel gegeven: het aards en hemels leven maakt Gij tot vaderland. Maar kan ik U wel nad’ren met zoveel schuld beladen? Wie loopt op aardse paden van zond’ en schulden vrij? Met kinderlijk vertrouwen zoek ik uw vaderarmen, Gij zult U vast erbarmen, ontferm U over mij.
