by Jean Richepin (1849 - 1926)

Pour embaumer ses toilettes
Language: French (Français)
Pour embaumer ses toilettes,
  Je lui cueillais
Des roses, des violettes
  Et des œillets.

Sur sa figure rosée,
  Je fis ce jeu
De secouer la rosée
  Pour rire un peu.

Se cambrant à la renverse,
  Le cher trésor
Ferma vite sous l'averse
  Ses longs cils d'or.

Elle enflait ses belles joues
  Et suffoquait,
Et soufflait avec des moues
  Sur le bouquet.

Et soudain les fleurs follettes,
  Filles du sol,
Œillets, roses, violettes,
  Prirent leur vol,

Et partirent vers les nues
  En tourbillons.
Les fleurs étaient devenues
  Des papillons.
