An meine Augen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Augen ihr, durch allen Schein gegangen,
Steht gestillt nun in des Wesens Lichte.
Die Gesichter schwinden im Gesichte,
Sternhaft dürft ihr an dem Antlitz hangen.
Friedlich liegen Schwester Lust und Trauer.
Blüte nicht noch Dorn wird sie erwecken,
Und des Blutes Ruheschalen schrecken
Keine Finsternis, kein Strahlenschauer.
Meinen Schlummer kann ich leise wiegen
Mondessilbern auf geschundnem Grunde,
Traum und Leben sind versenkte Kunde,
In dem Abgrund seh den Schlaf ich liegen.

To my eyes
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
You eyes that have passed through all illusion,
you are tranquil now in the light of essence.
Faces merge into a single vision,
star-like you may now hang on the countenance.
Peaceful lie the sisters, joy and sorrow.
Neither bloom nor thorn will waken them,
and vessels where the blood rests are not frightened
by any darkness, any downpour of light.
I can quietly cradle my sleep,
moon-silver upon vanished depth;
dream and life are sunken knowledge,
I see sleep lying in the abyss.
