Sanft glänzt die Abendsonne
Auf diese stille Flur,
Und strahlet Ruh und Wonne
[In]¹ jede Kreatur.
Sie zeichnet Licht und Schatten
Auf die beblümte Au,
Und auf den grünen Matten,
Blitzt der krystallne Thau.

Hier in der Zephir'n Spiele,
Bei'm frohen Vögelchor,
Hier steigen Hochgefühle
In meiner Brust empor.
Ich athme süße Freuden
Auf diesem Tempe ein,
Mich fliehen Gram und Leiden
Im milden Abendschein'. 

Dir, der die Abendröthe
Am Himmel ausgespannt,
Und süßes Nachtgeflöte
Auf diese Flur gesandt;
Dir sei dies Herz geweihet,
Das reiner Dank durchglüht;
Es schlage noch erfreuet
Wenn einst das Leben flieht!

Suau brilla el sol del capvespre
damunt aquests camps silents
i envia repòs i delícia
a totes les criatures.
Dibuixa llum i ombres
a les prades florides;
i damunt el verd herbam,
brilla la rosada cristal•lina.

Aquí en el joc dels zèfirs,
vora l’alegre cor dels ocells,
aquí sentiments d’èxtasi
s’alcen al meu cor.
Aleno dolços gaudis
en aquest temple,
la tristor i la pena fugen
lluny de mi en la llum suau del capvespre.

A tu, que la vermellor del crepuscle
al cel escampes
i dolços sons de la nit
a aquests camps envies,
a tu consagro aquest cor,
abrandat de pur agraïment
i que bategarà encara joiós
quan un dia la vida s’enfugi.
