  An' scatter'd cowslips sweetly spring,
By Girvan's fairy haunted stream
  The birdies flit on wanton wing. 
To Cassallis' banks when e'ening fa's, 
  There wi' my Mary let me flee,
There catch her ilka glance of love, 
  The bonnie blink o' Mary's e'e! 

The child wha boasts o' warld's wealth, 
  Is aften laird o' meikle care;
But Mary she is a' my ain,
  Ah, fortune canna gie me mair! 
Then let me range by Cassillis' banks,
  Wi' her the lassie dear to me,
And catch her ilka glance o' love,
  The bonnie blink o' Mary's e'e!

Là-bas j'attraperai chaque regard amoureux
   Dans le bel éclat des yeux de Marie !

L'enfant qui se vante de posséder les richesses du monde
    Est souvent possesseur de gros soucis ;
Mais Marie est mienne
    Ah Fortune ne peut me donner davantage !
Alors laissez-moi parcourir les pentes de Cassillis
    Avec elle, la fille que j'aime,
Et attraper chaque regard amoureux
