Lovely springtime is awake once more,
And primroses and violets bloom;
The last rays of the sun glow
Upon Girvan’s clear fairy-stream;
On the banks of the Cassillis, where a birdlet sings,
I like to wander alone with Mary,
And catch hold of every sweet beam
From her dear, lovely eyes.
He who boasts of earthly joys,
Often also has heavy cares. -
Lovely Mary, I call you mine,
And do not desire any better lot!
Let me upon the flowery banks of the Cassillis
Revel in my joy of love!
What could give my heart more happiness
Than the sweet glance of my Mary?
