Was ward denn aus allen den Vögeln, der'n Lied im Sommer erklang von den Zweigen? Später ich hörte sie wohl auch einmal, doch dann hüllt' sich alles in Schweigen. Stumm wird der Vogel zum Herbste. Was ward denn aus allen den Blumen, die ich auf Feldern und Wiesen sah nicken? Ich such' in der Runde, doch heute sich lässt von allen nicht eine mehr blicken. Welk wird die Blume im Herbste.
