 De ce cler Astre, & plus heureus encore
 Ce que son œil de regarder honore.
 Que celle là receuroit un bon iour,

Qu'elle pourrait se vanter d'un bon tour
 Qui baiseroit le plus beau don de Flore,
 Le mieus sentant que iamais vid Aurore,
 Et y ferait sur ses leures seiour !

C'est à moy seule à qui ce bien est du,
 Pour tant de pleurs & tant de tems perdu :
 Mais le voyant, tant lui feray de feste,

Tant emploiray de mes yeus le pouuoir,
 Pour dessus lui plus de crédit auoir,
 Qu'en peu de temps feray grande conqueste.

Thrice blessed is the rising in the east
of the bright Sun, and happier still are those
he honours with his warmest fairest rays!
And would that lucky woman not be pleased,

would she not have good reason to be proud
who got to kiss his lips (that finest rose,
that flower more sweet than any of former days)
and who could linger long on his sweet mouth!

That pleasure should by rights be solely mine
in payment for my tears and wasted time.
Yes, when he comes, I’ll make such celebration,

I’ll use so well the power of my eyes
to dazzle him and exercise persuasion
that in brief time I’ll win my handsome prize!
