Wenn die Nacht sich über die Welt senkt
mit dem segnenden Schwingen,
dann erwacht das Sehnen in mir.
Nicht mehr kann ich's bezwingen.

Dann erwacht' das Sehnen in mir 
nach entschwundene Tagen,
wo ich der Liebe Leid und Lust
in dem Herzen getragen.

Wo ich ein leuchtendes Sternenpaar 
sah in mein Leben scheinen,
teures Lieb! Wenn ich daran denke
muß ich weinen, so bitterlich weinen.

Quan la nit baixa sobre el món
amb ales de benedicció,
se'm desperta la nostàlgia
i no la puc dominar més.

Llavors se'm desperta l'enyor
dels dies desapareguts,
en que les penes i plaers de l'amor
els portava al cor.

En que veia brillar en la meva vida
un parell de lluminoses estrelles,
faç estimada! Quan hi penso
haig de plorar, de plorar molt amargament.
