Mit ihrem bunten Brennen?
Ich weiß wohl, das es Gärten giebt,
Die nur die Träume kennen. 

Du goldner Stern dort, strahlenweit,
Was lockst du mich hinüber?
Oh Welt, oh Wahn, oh Wirklichkeit,
Ihr werdet immer trüber.

Und meine Seele stiehlt sich fort,
Nach Sterne drängt ihr Wille;
Sie sieht den alten Götterort
Und tanzt in nackter Stille.
