Des Elfen im Grunde,

Und doch bezwangst du 
Zuletzt mich beim Scheiden
Mit trügenden Eiden, 
Ja da, da sangst du!

Du schlossest singend 
Die irdische Bahn doch, 
Du starbst verklingend;
Du warst ein Schwan doch!

les teves cançons delicioses.

Inquiet i temorenc
a causa dels elfs,
lliscares curiós 
 donant voltes.

Però al final forçares
per acomiadar-te de mi
l’enganyós jurament,
sí, vares cantar!

Vas tancar cantant
ell camí terrenal,	
vares morir cantant:
eres un cigne!
