Le pene che ò patío per el to amore,
Quando ti gèri in camera serada,
E mi, meschin, de fora a le verdure,
La piova me pareva aqua rosada,
E i lampi me parea segni d'amore.
E la tempesta me pareva dài,
Quando che gèra soto i to tolài.
E soto i to tolài gera 'l mio leto,
El ciel sereno gèra 'l mio coverto;
El scalin de la porta, el mio cussin:
Che vita che faceva, o poverin!
