Auf dem grünen Meerfeld blühen in Pracht 
  Des Morgens sonnige Rosen, 
Und über die träumende Fläche sacht 
  Spielende Lüfte kosen. 
Ich sehe den Glanz und ich höre den Gruß, 
Doch gefangen das Herz und gefesselt der Fuß --
Mich trägt kein Boot und kein Nachen von hier 
In das Land der Rosen, zu Dir, zu Dir! 

Du träumst nun im Grünen, duftig umlaubt 
  Von Deiner rauschenden Linde;
Um Dein liebes Herz, um Dein liebes Haupt 
  Fächeln die Morgenwinde. 
Deine Berge liegen so klar und hell, 
Durch die grünen Wiesen murmelt der Quell;
Doch mich trägt kein Boot und kein Nachen von hier 
In das Land der Rosen, zu Dir, zu Dir!

Upon the green meadow of the sea 
  The morning's sunny roses bloom in splendour,
And gently above the dreaming expanse
  Playful breezes exchange caresses.
I see the radiance and I hear the greeting,
But my heart is held captive and my foot is fettered --
No boat, no barque carries me from here
Into the land of roses, to you, to you!

Surrounded by the scent of leaves, you dream now in the greenery
  Of your soughing linden tree;
The morning winds fan 
  Your dear heart, your beloved head.
Your mountains lie so clear and bright,
The water-spring murmurs through the green meadows;
No boat, no barque carries me from here
Into the land of roses, to you, to you!
