Schilf, was flüsterst du so frech und bang? Fern der Himmel und die Tiefe nah -- Sterne, warum seid ihr noch nicht da? Eine liebe, liebe Stimme ruft Mich beständig aus der Wassergruft -- Weg, Gespenst, das oft ich winken sah! Sterne, Sterne, seid ihr nicht mehr da? Endlich, endlich durch das Dunkel bricht -- Es war Zeit! -- ein schwaches Flimmerlicht -- Denn ich wußte nicht, wie mir geschah. Sterne, Sterne, bleibt mir immer nah!
