Denn am Morgen, denn am Mittag
Wie ein Duft von wilden Rosen
Schwebt die Glut verstohlner Küsse
Dort bezaubernd in den Lüften.
Ach, und wenn der Abend dunkelt,
Unverhüllt durch die Gemächer
Wandelt mit geschwungner Fackel
Eros dann, und unablässig
Sprühn der Sehnsucht irre Funken
Weiterzündend um ihn her.

Wo am Herd ein Brautpaar siedelt,
Seid auf eurer Hut, ihr Knaben,
Wahrt, ihr Mädchen, euer Herz!

Éros se promène, torche à la main,

Des étincelles folles de désir jaillissent,
Embrasant tout autour de lui.

Là où un jeune couple s’installe près du foyer,
Prenez garde, jeunes garçons,
