Dis moi, par quel chemin caché es-tu venu à moi, eau douce, source de toute vie où je n'ai jamais puisé une goutte? Hier, alors que je dormais je rêvais, O illusion bénie! qu'une ruche habitait mon coeur, et que les abeilles dorées changeaient l'amertume du passé en cire ivoire et en miel sucré. Hier, alors que je dormais je rêvais, O illusion bénie! qu'un soleil ardent rayonnait au fond de mon coeur. Il flambait parce qu'il dégageait la chaleur d'un foyer ardent, et c'était bien le soleil, puisqu'il était lumière et parce qu'il faisait pleurer. Hier, alors que je dormais je rêvais, O illusion bénie! que c'était Dieu que je tenais dans mon coeur.
