Wehe dem Fliehenden
Welt hinaus ziehenden! -
Fremde durchmessenden,
Heimath vergessenden,
Mutterhaus hassenden,
Freunde verlassenden
Folget kein Segen, ach!
Auf ihren Wegen nach!

Herze, das sehnende,
Auge, das thränende,
Sehnsucht, nie endende,
Heimwärts sich wendende!
Busen, der wallende,
Klage, verhallende,
Abendstern, blinkender,
Hoffnungslos sinkender!

Lüfte, Ihr säuselnden,
Wellen sanft kräuselnden,
Sonnenstrahl, eilender,
Nirgend verweilender:
Die mir mit Schmerze, ach!
Dies treue Herze brach, -
Grüßt von [dem]1 Fliehenden,
Welt hinaus ziehenden!

Lontano
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Guai a chi fugge,
volendo sfuggire il mondo!
- si trova fra stranieri,
dimentica la patria,
odia la casa materna,
abbandona gli amici,
nessuna benedizione
lo segue - ah!, sul suo cammino!

Cuore, che ti struggi,
occhio che versi lacrime,
nostalgia senza fine,
che ti volgi verso la casa!
Esule è il cuore,
il lamento si leva,
brilla l'astro della sera
e tramonta privo di speranza!

Aure che spirate,
onde che vi increspate lievi,
raggio del sole che ti affretti,
senza mai fermarti:
colei che dolorosamente,
ah! - mi ha sepzzato il cuore,
salutate da parte di colui che fugge,
volendo sfuggire il mondo!
