All'aperto sono andato di buon mattino; i fiorellini davvero brillavano, mai li vidi così belli. Osai coglierne uno perché tanto mi piaceva; ma quando mi volli chinare vidi un amabile gioco. Le farfalle e le api, gli scarabei chiari e lucenti, tutti dovevano essere al suo servizio all'allegro canto del mattino; e scherzavano e baciavano il fiorellino sulla bocca, e protraevano ciò a loro piacere per un'ora intera. E mentre essi così mostravano ovunque il loro gioco, il fiorellino con gioia s'inchinava di qua e di là. E così non l'ho spezzato, già domani sarebbe morto, e ho detto soltanto: addio, fiorellino rosso! E le farfalle e le api, gli scarabei chiari e lucenti, mi cantarano con lieta espressione un bel ringraziamento
