Je suis sorti dehors Tôt dans le matin, Les petites fleurs resplendissaient, Je ne les avais jamais vues si belles. J'eus l'audace d'en cueillir une, Parce qu'elle me plaisait beaucoup ; Mais comme j'allais me baisser, Je vis un jeu adorable. Les papillons et les abeilles, Les scarabées brillants et luisants, Ils se sont tous rendus utiles Par un joyeux chant matinal ; Et ils ont bien plaisanté et embrassé La petite fleur sur la bouche, Et ils continuèrent ainsi Pendant bien une heure entière. Et comme ils montraient Leur jeu en tout sens, La petite fleur s'est penchée Avec joie de ci, de là. Aussi je ne l'ai pas cueillie, Elle serait sans doute morte le lendemain, Et j'ai seulement dit : Adieu, petite fleur rouge ! Et les papillons et les abeilles, Les scarabées brillants et luisants, Ils ont chanté avec une mine joyeuse Un vibrant merci pour moi.
