Dann schmück ich mich mit Purpurträumen,

Dann rauscht mit goldverbrämten Säumen
Um meine Knie das Königskleid.

Und meine Seele reckt sich mächtig
In Lust und Sehnsucht, stark und bleich,

estic encara despert amb les galtes ardents,
jo, apàtrida fill de rei.

Llavors, m’engalano amb somnis de porpra,
amb cinyell, corona i joiells,
llavors, l’orla guarnida d’or del meu vestit de rei
fa fregadissa als meus genolls.

I la meva ànima es desplega, poderosa,
plena de goig i anhel, forta i pàl·lida,
i a mitjanit, ella mateixa es crea en silenci
un reialme d’enyorança a la llum de la lluna.
