by (Karl) Wilhelm Osterwald (1820 - 1887)

Zu spät
Language: German (Deutsch)
Aus bangen Träumen
   Der Winternacht
   Die Knosp' erwacht -
O Lenz, und kannst du noch säumen?

Und als die zage,
   Die Frühlingsbraut
   Ihn nimmer schaut:
"Vergessen!" so weint ihre Klage.

Und als den Stecken
   Der Frühling schwang
   Und lustig sang,
Sein holdes Liebchen zu wecken:

Da war die Süße
   Vor Liebesnoth
   Schon lange todt,
Zu spät ach! kamen die Grüße.
