Je brak hem nu, de koude ijsvloer,
En kabbelt blij en vrij daarheen!
De luchten zijn al weer op meitoer,
Nieuw mos en gras groent om ons heen.
 
Alleen, met sombere gedachten,
Loop ik, als altijd, naar je boord.
De bloei, het algemeen verwachten
Is niet hetgeen mijn hart bekoort.
 
Hier vlagen steeds dezelfde winden,
Ik hoop nog op geen enkel ding,
Ik wil hier slechts een bloempje vinden:
