Tret' ich wie sonst zu deiner Fluth,
Der Erde allgemeine Blüthe
Kommt meinem Herzen nicht zu gut.

Hier treiben immer gleiche Winde,
Kein Hoffen kommt in meinen Sinn -
Als daß ich hier ein Blümchen finde,
Blau, wie sie der Erinnrung blühn.

A primavera accanto al ruscello

Hai appena infranto la crosta gelata,
felice e libero mormorando fluisci,
la brezza soffia nuovamente mite,
l'erba ed il muschio sono verdi e freschi.

Solitario, e con animo dolente,
come in passato alle tue onde mi accosto.
La  terra intorno è tutta fiorente,
ma all'animo mio non è di conforto.

Il vento che soffia è sempre lo stesso,
non allieta il mio cuore alcuna speranza,
eccetto un fiore che trovo qui adesso,
azzurro, come il fiore della rimembranza.
