Säng' ein Liedchen
Gern vom Liebchen,
Ihm zum Preis und aller Welt zur Lust;
Doch kein Reim stimmt,
Wie sein Herz klingt,
Wenn es feurig klopft an meine Brust!

Und kein Wort weiß,
Wie mein Puls schleicht,
Wenn die Seele fern von ihm sich kränkt;
Und kein Takt geht,
Wie mein Herz schlägt,
Wenn es an den teuren Freund gedenkt.
