The dark hills
Language: English
Our translations:  GER
Dark hills at evening in the west,
Where sunset hovers like a sound
Of golden horns that sang to rest
Old bones of warriors under ground,
Far now from all the bannered ways
Where flash the legions of the sun,
You fade -- as if the last of days
Were fading, and all wars were done.

Die dunklen Hügel
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
Auf dunklen Hügeln glüht verklärt
die untergeh'nde Sonn' wie Klang
der gold'nen Hörner: Ruhgesang
für Kriegerknochen in der Erd'.
Weit weg von all der Fahnen Sieg,
die sonnenfunkelnd Heeren wehn,
verbleichst du - als wär' im Vergeh'n
der letzte Tag, der letzte Krieg.
