Schmerzliche Wonnen und wonnige Schmerzen,
Wasser im Auge und Feuer im Herzen,
Stolz auf den Lippen und Seufzer im Sinne,
Honig und Galle zugleich ist die Minne.

Oft, wenn ein Seelchen vom [Leib sich]1 geschieden,
Möcht' es Sankt Michael tragen [zum]2 Frieden.
Aber der Dämon auch möcht' es verschlingen;
Keiner will weichen, da geht es ans Ringen.

Seelchen, gequältes, in ängstlichem Wogen
Fühlst du dich hierhin und dorthin gezogen,
Aufwärts und abwärts. In solches Getriebe
Stürzt zwischen Himmel und Höll' uns die Liebe.

Mütterchen, ach, und mit siebenzehn Jahren
Hab ich dies Hangen und Bangen erfahren,
Hab's dann verschworen mit Thränen der Reue;
Ach, und schon lieb' ich, schon lieb' ich auf's neue.

Goig dolorós i penes joioses,
llàgrimes als ulls i foc al cor,
orgull als llavis i sospirs a l’esperit,
l’amor és a la vegada mel i fel.

Sovint, quan una ànima deixa el cos,
Sant Miquel voldria emportar-se-la en pau.
Però també el dimoni la voldria devorar;
cap d’ells vol cedir i s’arriba a una lluita.

Petita ànima, en l’espantós tràngol,
et sents arrossegada d’una banda a l’altra,
amunt i avall. en un enrenou semblant,
l’amor ens fa caure entre el cel i l’infern.

Mare, ai, als disset anys
vaig experimentar aquests fatics,
i llavors els vaig renunciar amb llàgrimes de penediment;
però ai, estic enamorada, ja torno a estar enamorada.
