Das Fensterlein
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Our translations:  ENG

The little window
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
You little window, you with the new shutter,
With windowpanes that shine like gold,
Why do you conceal my sweet girl from me?
Ah, let me glimpse her, my lovely one.

As if bewitched I cannot go from you;
The hours pass, I have remained.
I would so dearly love to see you open!
You disdainful window, do you know nothing of loving?

If I wish to go to church, I cannot go by,
I hastily take some holy water and leave again.
Sleepless I lie in bed, as if in a fever --
You have ensorcelled, ah! my heart and my limbs.
