I gave my heart to a blonde child,
She took it and laughed.
I did not know how children are,
I was happy and thought:
"Now she shall tenderly lay it
In the shrine and shall cherish it."
But she threw it into the day
The coach of the hours rumbled straight into it:
Then it was run over.
