Du ruhest unter dem Lindenbaum
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Du ruhest unter dem Lindenbaum,
Der steht in goldner Blüte,
Und Engel wandeln durch den Raum
Und durch Dein fromm Gemüthe.

Du träumest unter dem Lindenbaum,
Der haucht süßduftigen Segen,
Und streut in Deinen lichten Traum
Den blühenden Sternenregen.

Am Busen liegt Dir, der Liebe Stern,
Ein Röslein mit hellen Tröpfchen,
Wie an Maria's Brust des Herrn
Frommblickendes Engelsköpfchen.

Und droben über dem Lindenbaum
Aus klarem Himmelslichte
Webt eine Lerch' in Deinen Traum
Unsterbliche Gedichte!

You are resting under the linden tree
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
You are resting under the linden tree,
It stands in golden blossoms,
An angels wander through the expanse
And through your devout spirit.

You are dreaming under the linden tree,
Which breathes sweet-scented blessings,
And strews into your bright dream
The blossoming rain of stars.

Upon your bosom there lies, the star of love,
A little rose with bright droplets,
As upon the Virgin Mary's bosom
The angelic head of our Lord, devoutly gazing.

And yonder above the linden tree,
From the clear light of the sky,
A lark weaves into your dream
Immortal poems!
