The eagle
Language: English
Our translations:  GER
He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Der Seeadler
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
Er umklammert das Kliff mit Klauenhänden;
Der Sonne nah in seinem einsamen Reich,
umgeben von einer azurnen Aureole, ragt er auf.

Die gekräuselte See tief unter ihm brodelt;
Er späht hinunter von den steilen Wänden,
und schießt hinab gleich eines Blitzes Strahl.
