In düst'rer Nacht,
Wenn Gram mein fühlend Herz umziehet,
Des Glückes Sonne mir [entfliehet]1,
Und ihre Pracht;
Da leuchtet fern
[Im feurig wonniglichen]2 Glanze,
Wie in der Liebe Strahlenkranze
Ein holder Stern.

Und ewig rein
Lebt unter Wonne, unter Schmerzen,
Im treuen liebevollen Herzen
Sein Wiederschein;
So hold und mild
Wird unter tröstenden Gestalten
Auch in der Ferne mich umwalten
Dein Zauberbild.

Blondel tot Maria
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
In donk're nacht,
Als leed mijn kwetsbaar hart omkluistert,
De zon van het geluk verduistert
En al haar pracht:
Dan twinkelt ver
In vurig diepbekoorlijk glanzen,
Zoals in liefde's stralenkransen,
Een lieve ster.

En eeuwig rein
Blijft mij, bij vreugde en bij smarten,
In 't trouwe liefdevolle harte
Zijn wederschijn.
Zo lief en mild
Zal straks met troost en met ontfermen
Ook in den vreemde mij beschermen
Uw wonderbeeld.
