Wer auf den Wogen schliefe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE FRE ITA
Wer auf den Wogen schliefe,
ein sanft gewiegtes Kind,
kennt nicht des Lebens Tiefe,
vor süßem Träumen blind.

Doch wen die Stürme fassen
zu wildem Tanz und Fest,
wen hoch auf dunklen Straßen
die falsche Welt verläßt:

Der lernt sich wacker rühren,
durch Nacht und Klippen hin -
lernt der das Steuer führen
mit sichrem, ernstem Sinn.

Der ist von echtem Kerne,
erprobt zu Lust und Pein,
der glaubt an Gott und Sterne,
der soll mein Schiffmann sein!

L'amico
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Chi sulle onde riposa,
come bimbo dolcemente cullato,
ignora la profondità della vita,
da dolci sogni accecato.

Ma chi è trascinato dalla tempesta
In un vortice di piaceri folli,
e più tardi attraverso oscuri percorsi
il falso mondo abbandona:

Quello impara a muoversi meglio,
attraverso la notte e gli scogli --
impara a tenere il timone
con animo grave e sicuro.

Quello ha un animo schietto
Temprato da gioia e dolore,
confida in Dio e nelle stelle,
sarà il mio timoniere!
