by (Gustav) Hermann Kletke (1813 - 1886)

Zur Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn die Welle so leis
Flüstert hin durch die Nacht,
Und das Leben kamm weiß,
Ob ed träumt, ob es wacht.

Wenn mit leuchtendem Blid
Späht am Himmel der Mond,
Ob ein menschliches Glück
Woht auf Erden noch wohnt;

Wenn im Dämmer zerfließt
All’ die farbige Pracht –
O ich weiß ja, es grüßt
Mich dein Herz noch zur Nacht!

Confirmed with Die deutsche Kunst in Bild und Lied, ed. by Albert Traeger, Achtzehnter Jahrgang, Leipzig, Verlag von Julius Klinkhardt, 1876, page 20.
