Zum Punsche
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Woget brausend, Harmonieen,
Kehre wieder, alte Zeit;
Punschgefüllte Becher, wandert
In des Kreises Heiterkeit!

Mich ergreifen schon die Wellen,
Bin der Erde weit entrückt;
Sterne winken, Lüfte säuseln, -
Und die Seele ist beglückt!

Was das Leben aufgebürdet,
Liegt am Ufer nebelschwer;
Steu're fort, ein rascher Schwimmer,
In das hohe Friedensmeer.

Was des [Schwimmens Lust vermehrt]1,
Ist das Plätschern hinterdrein;
Denn es folgen die Genossen,
Keiner will der Letzte sein.

Op de punch
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Golf en bruis nu, harmonieën,
Kom terug toch, oude tijd;
Punchgevulde bekers, schuim maar
In de kring vol vrolijkheid!

Mij vervoeren reeds de golven,
'k Ben de aarde ver ontrukt;
Sterren twink'len, windjes suiz'len,
En mijn ziel is diep verrukt!

Waarmee 't leven ons belast heeft,
Ligt als mist op strand en ree;
Schiet vooruit nu, snelle zwemmer,
Naar de rust op volle zee.

Wat de zwemmer nog meer deugd doet:
Achter hem is wild gedein;
Want daar volgen ook zijn vrienden,
Niemand wil de laatste zijn!
